BuzzFeed and The Bacon Cheez-It Turkey Stuffing

Uncategorized

turkey stuffing thanksgiving bacon cheez itsThanksgiving 2011 Steve and I decided to do a new twist on an old standard. Because we were being creative with our marketing and fun-loving, BuzzFeed actually picked up OUR article and included it in their article “9 Unforgivable Things You Should Never Do to a Turkey!”

We were not offended in the slightest; in fact, we were thrilled! This brought a great deal of traffic to our site www.TinaWalker.com at the time. (Sadly, I’ve not updated that site in a long time and have since all but abandoned it.)

STILL, from a marketing standpoint it was a coup, because it brought tens of thousands of readers to our site in a 30-day span.

The point? It never hurts to be a little zany and timely! Promise yourself in the next month you will come up with a creative idea for YOUR blog and post it. If you need help, contact us! We would love to help you step out of the box and bring amazing traffic to your site.

For your pleasure, our Thanksgiving recipe is below. Enjoy!

Bacon Cheez-It Turkey Stuffing!

It’s easy to make, and surprisingly good.

Ingredients

1 box of Cheez-It crackers (I chose the white cheddar).
1 bag onion ring snacks (Funyuns or Hawaiian Onion Rings)
1 pound of bacon (bacon ends works even better)

For Dressing Inside the Turkey

Slice bacon into halves. If using bacon ends, no need to slice. Fry the full pound of bacon, drain grease.

Combine half-box of Cheez-Its with full bag of onion ring snacks and the fried bacon into a mixing bowl. Stir all the ingredients well. Jam the mix into the turkey. Pack it in hard, don’t worry about breaking the Cheez-Its or onion rings. Bake the turkey.

To Make Dressing Outside of the Turkey

Add 32oz of chicken broth into the above mix. Pour into a casserole dish, leave uncovered. Bake at 375F on middle rack, for 30 minutes.

If you’re looking at these final photos and thinking this doesn’t look too appetizing, you’re right. It doesn’t look anywhere as good as it tastes! Don’t let that stop you, because it’s amazing!

Happy Thanksgiving!
